Chris Sidwells

I am a freelance writer, a story teller and editor. Since 2003 I’ve provided content and/or photographs for over 1000 features in magazines and websites including Cycling Weekly, Cycle Sport, Cycling Active, Cycling Fitness, Tour, Bicycling, Eroica Britannia, Cycling Plus, GQ Magazine, The Roar, Men’s Fitness, Running Fitness, The Guardian, Inews, the Daily Telegraph, the Sunday Times and the BBC. I also talk about cycling and commentate on the sport for BBC local radio stations.

I’ve written 20 books on cycling, three of them coffee-table books, supplying photographs as well as words for some of them. Most have run to multiple editions, and some have been best-sellers in their genre.

My books cover every aspect of cycling, six have been translated into foreign languages; 24 and counting for The Complete Bike Book, and they are sold worldwide. I've also contributed to and helped edit ten other books.

In 2017 a sixth edition of my Bike Repair Book (DK) and two brand new books, Cycling Jerseys (Thames and Hudson) and Wild Cycling (Robinson) were published, as well as American, French, Italian and Spanish versions of Cycling Jerseys.

Two new books were published in 2018; one is Call of the Road (William Collins) and is a look back at the history and lore of road racing, while the other title, How to Ride a Bike (Hamlyn) is a collaboration with six-time Olympic gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy.

I recently published the British pioneer professional Barry Hoban’s autobiography, Vas-y Barry under my own brand, Cycling Legends.
